A police officer was injured during an arrest in Berlin-Kreuzberg after a 16-year-old attacked her with punches to the face. According to rbb24.de, the incident occurred after officers spotted the teenager driving a rental car on Am Tempelhofer Berg street.
When police stopped the vehicle, the driver and his passenger attempted to flee. The unknown passenger escaped, but the 16-year-old was apprehended and brought to the ground. During the struggle, he punched the officer repeatedly in the face.
Colleagues rushed to her aid, but the teenager continued to resist with kicks and punches. "Only through the use of direct coercion by means of simple physical force could the resistance be ended," the police stated. The injured officer was subsequently taken to hospital.
The 16-year-old later complained of headaches and was also medically examined, after which he was handed over to his guardians.
He is now under investigation for assault on police officers, resisting police, driving without a driving licence, unauthorised use of a motor vehicle, and suspected hit-and-run.
