In courtroom 2.002 of the Rostock District Court, jury proceedings have begun against a 30-year-old woman who is believed to be responsible for the death of eight-year-old Fabian from Güstrow. The prosecution alleges that Gina H. lured the child from his flat under a false pretext, killed him with multiple stab wounds and set fire to his remains with a flammable liquid.
According to the investigators' account, the act was carried out for base motives. The woman was in a relationship with Fabian's father. An ongoing conflict with him is said to have driven her to end the boy's life – in the hope of reconciling the relationship and obtaining associated financial benefits.
The accused herself reported the discovery of the body on 14 October 2025 at a water source near Klein Upahl to the police. She claimed to have stumbled upon the body by chance. Approximately fourteen days later, her arrest followed. A journalist from RTL.de had visited her at her residence in Reimershagen before her arrest, where she strictly refused to give an interview.
During the trial, the accused appears in court with an electronic ankle bracelet. She provides her personal details in a barely audible whisper. Her defence lawyers initially refrained from making a statement. Court observers describe her behaviour as detached and indifferent. Whilst the victim's mother broke down in tears several times, Gina H. is said to have appeared bored. Even during the presentation of evidence photographs or emotional witness testimony, she reportedly immersed herself in her papers rather than paying attention.
Particularly striking: when the boy's father appeared for examination, she is said to have smiled at him. During the course of the trial, he admitted that he had resumed his relationship with the alleged perpetrator.
The presumption of innocence applies until a final judgment.
