Speeding in Dortmund: Fugitive rams police officer and escapes at 154 km/h
A 33-year-old driver led police on a high-speed chase through Dortmund city centre and injured an officer in the process. Despite a helicopter being deployed, the man escaped.

High-speed pursuit through Dortmund: police officer hit, driver at large
According to n-tv, a motorist led police on a high-speed chase through Dortmund city centre on Wednesday evening – at speeds over 150 km/h. A police officer was injured in the incident.
The situation began with a traffic violation when officers attempted to pull the man over and conduct a check. The driver fled instead, ignored several red traffic lights and drove at excessive speed. Witnesses reported to police that the vehicle had driven onto the car park of a DIY store.
There, a plainclothes patrol managed to bring the man to a stop at gunpoint. The driver then shifted into reverse and struck a 33-year-old police officer, according to authorities. The officer suffered minor injuries.
During the subsequent escape, the vehicle was caught speeding at 154 km/h. A police helicopter was also deployed – but the driver nevertheless managed to escape unidentified.
Investigations are ongoing.
