Pensioner robbed in Bergkirchen – arrest following pursuit on A8

Two men snatched a wristwatch from a 77-year-old man in Bergkirchen on Sunday morning and fled the scene. According to the Süddeutsche Zeitung, the suspected robbers – a 29-year-old and a 40-year-old – were arrested shortly afterwards.

At around 11.20 a.m., the two men pulled up alongside the senior citizen in their car as he walked his dog on Poitstraße. They asked him for directions to the nearest hospital and requested that he enter the address into their mobile phone. As the 77-year-old leaned through the open car window, one of the occupants grabbed his arm and ripped off his watch. The perpetrators then drove away.

Police immediately launched a manhunt. Officers spotted the wanted vehicle shortly afterwards on the A8 near the Dachau junction. The men accelerated and sped across the Adelshausen exit and along the Staatsstraße 2338 towards Tödtenried in Aichach-Friedberg district – a crash there brought the pursuit to an end.

No other traffic participants were involved. The two occupants were slightly injured in the crash and taken to hospital. The Oberbayern Nord Police Headquarters announced on Tuesday that a judge has since ordered remand in custody for the suspected robbers.
