Robot arrested after sexual harassment of girl in Cologne
German police have launched an investigation after a robot allegedly committed sexual acts against a 16-year-old girl outside a fast-food restaurant in Cologne, according to the news website nettavisen.no, which references BBC and the news agency AP.
The incident took place at midnight on the night heading into Sunday. The robot is 120 centimetres tall, has gold-coloured arms and was wearing a white T-shirt, a gold-coloured necklace, sunglasses and a loose-fitting black garment. According to police, it groped the girl on her buttocks and made sexual movements towards her. She screamed and ran away.
Police believe that the robot's 16-year-old owner and his 19-year-old companion either remotely controlled the robot or had pre-programmed it. The two teenagers are also suspected of having livestreamed the incident on social media and commented on it as it happened.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and the two suspects were arrested a quarter of an hour away from the location of the incident. The robot was found in a car, where they had left it. Police also seized two mobile phones belonging to the suspects.
The two have not yet been charged in the matter.
