Live explosive device found on company vehicle in Grasdorf – police investigating
A live bomb has been discovered on a company vehicle in Grasdorf (Hildesheim district). Police are investigating on suspicion of attempted murder.

A resident of Grasdorf, a village of approximately 800 inhabitants in Hildesheim district, discovered several cables protruding from the exhaust system of a parked vehicle on late Sunday evening. He alerted the police. Specialists subsequently confirmed it: the device was a live explosive.
According to BILD information, the vehicle was parked near a half-timbered house in which a gardening and landscaping business is based. The vehicle is said to belong to this business. Officers then cordoned off the area widely and sealed it off late into the night.
In an official statement, investigators described the discovery as an "unconventional explosive device". A bomb disposal expert from the federal police confirmed the suspicion: the device was indeed live and ready for deployment.
During the night, the explosive device was detonated in a controlled manner on a nearby field near Grasdorf. Local fire chief Patrick Würfel confirmed to BILD the force of the explosion: "It was quite a bang." A bomb detection dog subsequently searched the entire area around the discovery site – no further suspicious objects were found.
The affected vehicle was seized by police. In the village, the owner of the tampered vehicle is considered popular and sociable. He participates in village life and is always friendly, according to neighbours.
Whether the attack was directed specifically at him and who is behind the deed remains completely unclear at present. Police are investigating on suspicion of attempted murder and of attempting to cause an explosion involving explosives.
