Www1.wdr.de reports that unknown assailants entered a tea house on Karlstraße in Marl on Monday, 28 September, shortly after 3 a.m. People inside were playing poker. At least two of the four intruders opened fire on the players.
A 39-year-old man was shot in the lung and died. Three other men were seriously injured and taken to hospital. Residents reported the shots to police.
The four suspects fled on foot from the scene. Police have since identified one of them: a 25-year-old with a full beard and a tattoo behind his right ear. Police are searching for him with a wanted poster. The other three suspects have not yet been identified.
The motive for the act is unclear. The connection between the dead man and the tea house is also not yet known. Police have established a murder task force and are investigating all lines of inquiry. According to residents, the tea house was mostly only used late in the evening.
