Several witnesses alerted Berlin police on Saturday morning after hearing banging sounds in Berlin-Tempelhof. According to zeit.de, officers subsequently discovered bullet holes in the shop window of a hairdressing salon on Tempelhofer Damm as well as in the window of a neighbouring business. In addition, several cartridge cases were secured.
According to initial police findings, no one was injured. A suspect is said to have fled from Tempelhofer Damm to Burgemeisterstraße and then escaped from there in a vehicle.
The incident is part of a series of shooting incidents in Berlin that occurred within a week. In the early hours of Friday morning, a 20-year-old was hit and injured by at least one projectile in Berlin-Adlershof. In the night leading to Monday, a 27-year-old man was shot on Sonnenallee in Neukölln.
Further incidents date back to August: on 1 September, a 26-year-old was seriously injured by gunfire; on 30 August, shots were fired in Schöneberg without injuries. In mid-August, a 30-year-old was shot at Zoo station; two days later, another man was shot in the Baumschulenweg district.
Police do not currently see an obvious connection between the acts but intend to examine this as part of ongoing investigations.
