Missing since 2007: Police search woodland near Regensburg following new leads
Kerstin Lee Langley disappeared from Regensburg in 2007. Police officers are now digging for new traces in the Upper Palatinate in areas considered possible locations where the missing woman might be found.

Excavations following new lead
Police officers are currently searching a meadow and woodland area near Berg in the Upper Palatinate in search of Kerstin Lee Langley, who has been missing for 19 years. According to the Süddeutsche Zeitung, these are new leads in the case of the then 39-year-old woman who disappeared from Regensburg in 2007. The municipality of Berg is located near an airfield west of the city.
The search operation, involving approximately 40 police officers, was launched after a man from North Rhine-Westphalia pointed to a possible location via email. The tipster described himself as a clairvoyant. Because the case had remained unsolved for decades and there were no other leads, police decided to pursue this tip.
In 2024, police had already searched the Paintner forest west of Regensburg – also on the basis of a lead that came in after the ZDF programme "Aktenzeichen XY … ungelöst". During that search operation, investigators found only the remains of an animal.
Kerstin Lee Langley's brother reported her missing in the summer of 2007. Her then partner stated that she had separated from him and left in a dark car with Deggendorf licence plates with an old acquaintance. Police have not yet been able to identify this "old friend".
A suspicion of criminal involvement against the partner – with whom the woman had recently moved to Regensburg – was not substantiated. The Bavarian State Criminal Police have offered a reward of 10,000 euros for information in the case.
