Special unit arrests armed man in Middle Franconia – illegal weapons arsenal discovered
A major police operation took place over the weekend in Thalmässing, Roth district. A 40-year-old resident is alleged to have intimidated his live-in partner with a pistol in their shared accommodation and to have fired several shots within the premises.
The partner was able to escape together with the children and alert emergency services. A special operations team stormed the property and took the suspect into custody without resistance. Following a subsequent search of the building, investigators discovered an entire arsenal of live firearms – all without the required official documentation.
According to police information, the public prosecutor's office is investigating allegations of coercion and serious violations of the War Weapons Control Act. The arrested man is currently in pre-trial custody. The origin of the unlicensed firearms and their method of acquisition remain unclear and are being pursued intensively by investigators.
