A 46-year-old taxi driver struck a 37-year-old food delivery courier on a bicycle with his vehicle and dragged him a distance on Tuesday afternoon in Munich. The confrontation took place in the city centre near Landwehrstrasse.
At around 15.15, witnesses alerted the police. The 37-year-old had previously dismounted from his bicycle and argued with the taxi driver through the window of the taxi. When the courier attempted to get back on his two-wheeler, the 46-year-old accelerated and struck him. The delivery man landed on the bonnet and was carried several metres before falling onto the street.
Paramedics brought the injured man to a hospital. According to initial reports, there was no danger to life. The taxi driver got out of his car after the incident and tried to approach the man lying on the ground. However, bystanders held him back.
Officers temporarily arrested the 46-year-old but released him after following standard police procedures. Criminal police are now investigating whether the incident should be classified as an intentional act.
