Following a telephone fraud targeting a pensioner in Altfraunhofen in Lower Bavaria, police have searched several apartments in the Moosburg area on the Isar and seized two mobile phones in the process, as reported by Google News DE – Crime.
The case originated in early March 2026 in Landshut district. An elderly woman, after receiving a call from fraudsters, had placed more than 10,000 euros in two envelopes near her home for collection. In a further incident, she also handed over her debit card along with her PIN – subsequently, several thousand euros were withdrawn from her account.
Police and the state prosecutor identified three young suspects aged 16, 18 and 19 as suspected couriers. Investigations are ongoing against them and other previously unknown persons on suspicion of commercial and organised fraud, the authorities said.
Investigators are now checking whether the suspects were also used as couriers in further telephone fraud cases – including incidents in the Erding area and in Dessau. The evaluation of the seized mobile phones is expected to provide further information.
