Body found in Gersthofen: Augsburg criminal police release photographs of tattoos

Walkers discovered a male corpse in dense undergrowth on 25 August 2026 in Augsburg district. According to BILD, the discovery site lies north of Thyssenstrasse and east of Federal Road 2 in Gersthofen, Bavaria.

Augsburg criminal police have been unable to establish the identity of the deceased. Neither identification documents nor personal items that could have indicated his origin or name were found on the man.

The unknown man was approximately 171 centimetres tall and of slim build. His exact age could not be determined due to the condition of the body. It is also unclear how long he had been lying in the undergrowth.

He was wearing Adidas trainers, a T-shirt with the print "PROSTO", and a belt with a Pitbull Westcoast brand buckle.

Since the deceased's left arm bears several distinctive tattoos, investigators have now released photographs of these designs. The hope: someone might recognise the tattoos and thus help to identify the man.

Despite the unclear circumstances of the discovery, police currently have no indications of a criminal offence.

Anyone who recognises the deceased or can provide information about his identity is asked to contact Augsburg criminal police: Telephone 0821/323-3821.
