A spokesman for the Frankfurt Police Authority stated that the pistol was found on Tuesday on a police facility – after weeks of unsuccessful searching.
The weapon went missing on 24 July at the 4th Police Station, which also houses the Middle District command. A police officer had briefly left the pistol in a room that was accessible only to officers from the station. When he went to retrieve it, it was no longer to be found.
