Service weapon from Frankfurt police station appears on police facility

As Google News AT — Crime (de) reports, a service weapon that disappeared in unclear circumstances at the end of July from a police station in Frankfurt's city centre has resurfaced. A spokesman for the Frankfurt Police Authority stated that the pistol was found on Tuesday on a police facility – after weeks of unsuccessful searching.

The weapon went missing on 24 July at the 4th Police Station, which also houses the Middle District command. A police officer had briefly left the pistol in a room that was accessible only to officers from the station. When he went to retrieve it, it was no longer to be found.

At that time, there was already suspicion that a colleague might have taken the Heckler & Koch for unknown reasons. Regarding the exact circumstances that have now led to its discovery, and the question of who brought the weapon there, police declined to comment, citing ongoing investigations.
