Two dead after shooting in Hamburg-St. Pauli – murder squad investigating
Two men were killed by gunshots on a commercial courtyard near Hamburg's exhibition halls, and a third was seriously injured. The state criminal police and murder squad have taken over the investigation.

Two men were shot dead on a commercial courtyard in Lagerstraße near Sternschanze S-Bahn station on Tuesday evening. According to WELT, Hamburg police responded with a large contingent after witnesses in the St. Pauli district heard gunfire and called emergency services.
Officers found a lifeless 47-year-old man with an alleged gunshot wound at the scene. Resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful. During the subsequent search of the building, police discovered another fatally injured man whose identity remained unclear until Wednesday afternoon.
A 48-year-old man was seriously injured but is not in danger of his life. According to initial findings, he had gone to a hospital of his own volition before police arrived.
Investigators believe that the perpetrator and victims knew each other. No further details about the possible motive for the deed were initially provided. A search was launched involving more than two dozen radio patrol car crews as well as a drone. The State Criminal Police Office for Organised Crime and the murder squad have since taken over the investigation in close coordination with the public prosecutor's office.
The authorities are also examining a possible connection with an incident from late June: at that time, unknown individuals threw a hand grenade on the same business premises in Lagerstraße, which detonated and damaged a building as well as several vehicles. A police spokesman confirmed that possible connections between the two events are being examined. Witnesses to the current incident are being sought by investigators.
