24-year-old charged in new assault case in Sorø – less than two months after sentencing
The man from TV 2 documentary 'The Man in the Bedroom' is again remanded in custody, this time charged with three new offences in Sorø.
New charges against 'The Man in the Bedroom' shortly after release
A 24-year-old man who became nationally known as 'The Man in the Bedroom' in a TV 2 documentary has, according to TV 2 News, been charged with new assaults in the Sorø area. The man was arrested during the night of Tuesday and brought before a constitutional hearing at Næstved Court, where he was remanded in custody until 24 September 2026.
The court based its decision partly on the grounds that there were specific reasons to assume that the man, if released, would commit new similar criminal offences. The charges cover three matters of indecent assault, trespass and attempted trespass. The man denies guilt, according to his defence counsel Mads Fossing, who informed TV 2.
Surveillance camera captured the man
Resident Bjørn Larsen noticed a man moving around his building during the night of Monday and captured him several times on his surveillance camera. In the recordings, the man is first seen walking past the building, after which he returns and moves about with a light source in his hand. TV 2 News has confirmed the identity of the accused and verified that it is him appearing in the recordings.
– It is enormously unsettling. This is an area with many children playing freely. So it is really unsettling that it is the same man, Bjørn Larsen told TV 2.
The arrest was made following action by South Zealand and Lolland-Falster Police.
Released after serving sentence
It is less than two months since the man was sentenced to one year's imprisonment by the Eastern High Court. The sentence covered, among other things, trespass and indecent assault by having touched sleeping children's feet in the Roskilde area. In one case, he was also convicted of attempted rape by a sexual act other than intercourse involving a child under 12 years of age.
The prosecution had demanded preventive detention, but the high court found no grounds for this and instead increased the sentence from Roskilde Court's conviction of ten months' imprisonment to one year. As the sentence was considered served due to the time the man had already spent in remand custody, he was released.
Long criminal history since 2020
The man has since 2020 been repeatedly convicted of similar offences, including indecent assault, unlawful entry and attempted burglary. Sentences have ranged from fines and suspended prison sentences to custodial imprisonment.
In December 2023 he was sentenced to one and a half years' imprisonment for 11 indecent assaults on sleeping children, 26 attempted indecent assaults and 37 trespasses, all in the Roskilde area. Each time he has served a sentence, he has continued his criminal conduct.
In district court in 2025, the man admitted that his actions were wrong and assured that it would not happen again.
– I have regretted a lot. I am very ashamed of this. It should not happen again, he said.
On the same occasion, the judge urged him emphatically to seek treatment.
– I would strongly urge you to seek treatment with a view to preventing anything similar happening again. It is in both your and society's interest, the judge said.
The man has previously explained in court that he sneaked into children's bedrooms because he had been drinking and because he found it sexually arousing to tickle children's feet.
