New book reveals power culture in Faderhuset
Politiken publishes an extract from the book Child of Faderhuset, in which 22-year-old Noah Rosendal describes his childhood in the Christian free church Faderhuset under leader Ruth Evensen, today Kristiansen. The book was written in collaboration with Politiken journalist Kristian Corfixen and is released 24 August.
According to Rosendal, Ruth's mood spread like a warning through the congregation. "Mum is angry now," children whispered to each other in corners when the atmosphere shifted. The whole group was on edge.
The central conviction was that the Holy Spirit spoke directly through Ruth. Her dissatisfaction was therefore not merely personal — it was perceived as God's own reaction. Rosendal describes how no one knew what would happen when Ruth entered a room.
The book's title refers to the justification he allegedly received for the violence he experienced: "We don't want to hit you. But it's because we love you."
