A man was found dead in the Gudenåen river north of Svostrup near Silkeborg on Monday afternoon. According to Politiken, police received the report shortly before 16:30, after a passer-by saw the deceased in the water.
Central and Western Jutland Police announced on Tuesday morning in a statement on Police Update that investigators had worked at the scene throughout the night.
"Because we have not been able to rule out that this may be a crime, we have proceeded very thoroughly. It is a time-consuming task, and the evidence-securing work is complicated when it takes place in water," the police wrote.
Shortly before midnight on the night into Tuesday, police called in additional resources, including the Royal Danish Navy's diving service. The man's identity had not been established on Monday evening, and police had no further information on Tuesday morning.
Witnesses sought
Police are appealing for anyone who was present at the bridge on Brovejen over Gudenåen around midday on Monday.
"We would in particular like to speak with an elderly couple who were seen walking at the bridge around midday on Monday," the police wrote.
"Around the same time, a male surveyor was seen at the location. We would very much like to get in contact with him."
Police have not disclosed what the Royal Danish Navy's diving service specifically contributed, or whether the investigations have yielded concrete results.
