City Court: Tårnby politician breached confidentiality

According to B.T., a former city council politician from Tårnby Municipality was on Thursday found guilty of having breached her confidentiality obligation.

Copenhagen City Court has sentenced Liv Gam, who represented Tårnby Listen, to ten daily fines of 500 kroner. This was announced by the court.

Gam had denied guilt. She was accused of having leaked a confidential document from the municipality's Health and Care Committee just over two years ago. The document concerned an upcoming municipal inspection of the specialised adult sector.

The court was convinced on the basis of evidence presented, which included a statement from Mayor Allan Steenberg Andersen (S). Gam allegedly showed the document to a woman who works at a residential care facility.

The prosecution initially considered demanding a prison sentence but subsequently changed its claim to a fine.

The City Court has also established that Gam herself shall not bear the costs of her legal defence — that bill falls to the state treasury.

Gam is no longer an elected representative. In the 2025 municipal election she did not receive enough votes to retain her seat on the city council.
