Arrest following routine check triggered search and immediate sentencing

A 22-year-old carpenter apprentice was sentenced to five years in prison by the Esbjerg Court on Wednesday for possession of 4.4 kilograms of amphetamine with intent to distribute. This was announced by the prosecution office at South and Southern Jutland Police on Prosecutor Update, which B.T. reports.

The case began on Tuesday around 4 p.m. when police stopped the 22-year-old in a car during a routine check. A subsequent drug test of the man showed a positive result.

"The police therefore decided to search the car, where two kilograms of amphetamine and some cocaine were found," prosecutor Lisa Pelgröm told Ritzau.

After this, the suspect's address was searched. Here police found an additional two kilograms of amphetamine and 88 grams of MDMA. The total amount of cocaine found in both searches was 150 grams.

Oscar Uth Rasmussen confessed at a bail hearing on Wednesday that he had possessed the drugs with intent to distribute. The Esbjerg Court issued an immediate sentence of five years in prison on the same day.

He was also convicted of possession of the 150 grams of cocaine and 88 grams of MDMA. Police have additionally confiscated 20,710 kroner, which the prosecution believes stems from drug sales.
