According to infobae.com, a total of 42 people wanted by the judiciary surrendered voluntarily between 1 and 6 October in the Dominican Republic. The National Police released the figures on Wednesday as part of its operations to locate suspects linked to various crimes.

With those 42 presentations, the cumulative number of fugitives who have surrendered from 17 August to 6 October 2026 reached 195. Of that total, 49 people were wanted in homicide investigations.

Breakdown by type of crime in the first six days of October

During the period from 1 to 6 October, crimes against property were the main reason for voluntary surrender, with 15 cases. Physical assault ranked second, with 12 presentations.

The Dominican police also recorded five surrenders of people wanted for homicide, three for knife wounds and two for domestic violence. The report also included one surrender for injuries caused by firearm, one for investigation, one for sexual abuse, one for threat and one for breach of trust.

September, the month with the highest number of presentations

The largest volume of surrenders since the start of the record was concentrated in September: 122 people presented themselves voluntarily during that month, equivalent to 62.6% of the 195 cases counted through 6 October.

Between 17 and 31 August, 31 surrenders were recorded—15.9% of the cumulative total—whilst the 42 from the first days of October represented the remaining 21.5%.

Crimes against property and homicides lead the overall total

In the general classification by type of criminal offence, crimes against property headed the list with 58 surrenders, equivalent to 29.7% of the total. Homicides ranked second with 49 cases, representing 25.1%. Firearm-related injuries and physical assault each recorded 28 surrenders, with a share of 14.4% in both cases.

The report also counted five cases of attempted homicide, four for investigation, four for domestic violence, four for violations of Law 631-16 on illegal firearms and four for fraud. Among the records with lower frequency are three surrenders for sexual abuse, three for threat and three for knife wounds, in addition to one case of falsified documents and another of breach of trust.

Together, crimes against property and homicides accounted for 107 of the 195 presentations, more than half of the total reported by the authorities during the period analysed.

The National Police reiterated its call to those who are fugitives to present themselves voluntarily to the competent authorities.
