Dilson Humberto Reynoso Cruz, alias "Mandrake" and/or "El Mello", died on Friday after being wounded in an exchange of gunfire with agents of the Central Investigation Directorate (DICRIM), who were executing an arrest warrant in the Pontezuela sector, Santiago. According to reporting from diarioeco.com.do, Reynoso Cruz reportedly opened fire on the uniformed officers, which triggered the confrontation.
At the scene, the Scientific Police seized a Gato-brand motorcycle, CG model, yellow in colour and without a licence plate, along with a revolver with illegible serial numbers that, according to the police report, was the weapon used to attack the agents. Also recovered were a white cap, two cartridges and a shell casing.
Reynoso Cruz was wanted under arrest warrant No. 2026-AJ0073606 for his alleged participation in the death of a 15-year-old adolescent, which occurred on 18 August in the Nueva York Chiquito sector, in Nibaje. Preliminary investigations indicate that the minor was struck by gunfire discharged from a motorcycle against a residence.
The National Police also reported that the deceased had accumulated seven records for various criminal acts and was wanted under a second arrest warrant related to a double homicide recorded in 2023 in San Francisco de Macorís. The corpse was transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) for the corresponding legal procedures.
