'Suco', most wanted in Santo Domingo, arrested for taxi driver murder

Santo Domingo police arrest province's most wanted man for homicide
Juan Alexander M., aged 27 and known by the alias 'Suco', was captured by the National Police in the early hours of Thursday 15 June 2023, according to vistazo.com. The authorities classified him as the most wanted criminal in the province of Santo Domingo and as an individual of high dangerousness.
Officers raided a residence in the 15 de Septiembre housing cooperative, where the accused was staying, acting on a standing arrest warrant against him. A video circulated on social media shows 'Suco' being escorted from the building and transported in a patrol car.
The investigation against him dates back to 2020, when taxi driver Hugo Farías was struck by gunfire whilst driving. According to reports from that time, Farías lost control of the vehicle and fell to the side of the road. The authorities estimate that the passengers attempted to rob him, the driver resisted and the now-detained man opened fire.
Farías' body was found inside the automobile with gunshot wounds to the right occipital region and the right cheek. Juan Alexander M. is formally accused of murder in connection with that violent death.
For more than three years, 'Suco' managed to evade the authorities until the early morning operation on Thursday allowed his arrest.
