Four arrested for murder of Julián Oro Duro's wife in Santo Domingo
Dominican police arrested four suspects in the attack on the home of merengue singer Julián Oro Duro, in which his wife was murdered.
Four arrested for crime at Dominican merengue singer's home
The National Police of the Dominican Republic has detained four suspects in the attack carried out at the residence of merengue singer Gilberto Julián Sarante, known as Julián Oro Duro, according to es.euronews.com. In the attack, his wife Zeneida Socorro Castillo, aged 60, lost her life, whilst the singer was seriously injured.
The arrested individuals are Phillips Michael Tejeda Vásquez, Juan Carlos Hernández García—alias Peña—, Kevin Dariel Germán Troncoso—known as Yandel, aged 23—and Lawrence Mark Liranzo Marcos—alias Chiquito, aged 18. The latter was captured following an active search by authorities. Investigators indicate that the four maintained work-related or trust-based ties with the artist's circle.
Tejeda Vásquez worked as an air-conditioning technician and carried out work on properties owned by the singer, and according to the investigation would have been the one who contacted the other people involved. Liranzo Marcos, for his part, knew the family and worked at a villa that Julián Oro Duro was having built in Guerra.
The events took place on 21 September in the Brisa Oriental VI development in Santo Domingo Este. Upon returning to his home, the artist was surprised by the attackers, who reportedly held and tortured Castillo for several hours before murdering her, according to investigations.
The singer suffered cranioencephalic injuries during the assault and continues in the process of recovery. The Police and the Public Prosecutor's Office are keeping the proceedings open to gather further evidence in the case, which has generated strong shock in the country.
