Four men identified by the National Police as suspected members of criminal organisations died in separate confrontations with officers in Boca Chica, Santo Domingo and Santiago, according to infobae.com citing institutional spokesman Diego Pesqueira.
Two of the cases are linked, according to the official account, to the armed incident of 12 September in Los Coquitos, Boca Chica, where two people were killed and five were injured. Pesqueira stated that the operations were part of the search for individuals connected to that episode and to other crimes under investigation.
The spokesman asserted that the National Police acted after the suspects confronted the officers who were following them. In all procedures, the institution reported the seizure of firearms and ammunition.
Wender Alcántara, 19 years old — Boca Chica
The first fatality is Wender Alcántara, 19 years old, known as "El Compa" or "La Muerte". He died in the early hours of 18 September during a confrontation with officers on José Francisco Peña Gómez street, Andrés sector of Boca Chica. Pesqueira indicated that Alcántara was wanted under a judicial arrest warrant for his alleged participation in the violent incident of 12 September. At the scene, a Glock 43 pistol with an undocumented drum-type magazine was seized, according to the institution.
David Rosado Durán — alleged weapons supplier for "Los Fantasmas"
The second fatality was identified by the police as David Rosado Durán, nicknamed "El Gordo" or "El Fantasma de Guindo", although the spokesman himself acknowledged a discrepancy in the identification: the name recorded in the institution appears as Deivi Rosado Durán. According to Pesqueira, the man was wanted for his alleged connection to the group "Los Fantasmas", which authorities link to the Boca Chica attack, and was identified as a suspected weapons supplier for that organisation. The police were also investigating him for his alleged participation in the robbery of an armoured truck that occurred in July in Monte Plata, as well as for other crimes related to weapons and aggravated theft.
Jordi Antonio Ogando — robberies of InDrive drivers
The third case concerns Jordi Antonio Ogando, known as "Jordín" or "El Malito", who died following a confrontation with officers on doctor Beltance street, corner of 11th street, Villa María sector, in Santo Domingo. Pesqueira asserted that Ogando was wanted for his alleged participation in aggravated robberies and illegal detentions of drivers operating through the InDrive application, mainly in Andrés, Boca Chica. According to the police account, drivers were intercepted and robbed of their belongings. The officers seized a .380 calibre pistol, a magazine and two cartridges at the scene. The police did not clarify whether there was an active arrest warrant against Ogando.
Dilson Humberto Reynoso Cruz — Santiago
The fourth fatality is Dilson Humberto Reynoso Cruz, nicknamed "Mandrake", 33 years old, who died in a confrontation with officers in Santiago. Pesqueira stated that Reynoso Cruz was being investigated for various violent crimes recorded since 2021, including robberies, homicides and gunshot wounds. The police also linked him to an incident on Circunvalación avenue, Nibaje sector, in which a 15-year-old teenager was shot and subsequently died.
The spokesman stated that the institution would maintain operations against people accused of crimes, "always respecting due process". The National Police did not release information about independent investigations into the four confrontations or the identities of the officers involved in the operations.
