A man with an active arrest warrant for murder died on Friday, 25 September after opening fire on agents of the Central Investigation Directorate (DICRIM) in the Los Frailes II sector of Santo Domingo, according to information released by the National Police. Ultimasnoticias.com.do reported details of the operation.
The deceased was identified as Jenny Santos Franco Jiménez, 35 years old, known as "The Cannibal of Los Frailes". The incident occurred at approximately 6:10 in the morning, when DICRIM personnel were conducting intelligence work to locate the individual, who was wanted under arrest warrant No. 2026-AJ0015784 for his involvement in several crimes, including a murder recorded on 22 February 2026.
Upon noticing the presence of the investigators on Carlos Teo Cruz street, Santos Franco Jiménez allegedly attacked the agents with a Glock pistol, .45 calibre, serial number MUU508, which he carried without documentation. The agents responded to the assault, and the man was wounded by firearm projectiles in various parts of his body.
Immediately transferred to the Hospital Traumatológico Dr. Darío Contreras, Santos Franco Jiménez died whilst receiving medical attention, at approximately 6:32 in the morning, approximately 22 minutes after the shootout began.
At the scene, the Glock pistol, .45 calibre, and four shell casings of the same calibre were recovered, evidence that was turned over to the competent authorities for the corresponding legal purposes.
The National Police clarified that, upon verification in institutional records, the deceased had a criminal history for criminal association, murder and robbery. The circumstances of the shootout are being documented by the corresponding authorities.
