The National Police is investigating the disappearance of Loyca Alvarado Adames, 37, who left her residence in Santo Domingo on Sunday to go to a beauty salon and has had no contact since, according to elnacional.com.do.
The case is focused on kilometre 8.5 of Independencia Avenue, where investigators began collecting evidence and reviewing security camera footage from the area.
Colonel Diego Pesqueira, spokesman for the National Police, confirmed that a specialist team for missing persons cases is working in conjunction with the Public Prosecutor's Office.
"There are investigators assigned to the missing persons search area, who, in strict coordination with representatives of the Public Prosecutor's Office, are working on this case," Pesqueira stated.
The spokesman indicated that a prosecutor is directly leading the investigation and that proceedings include analysis of images captured by security cameras in the sector.
"Corresponding investigations are being carried out, camera footage is being gathered and, so far, the case is progressing considerably," the officer noted.
Pesqueira added that various people have been interviewed as part of the enquiry and that authorities expect to have further details in the coming hours.
Ex-partner in authorities' focus
Asked about reports indicating that Alvarado Adames' ex-partner was subject to a restraining order, the police spokesman indicated that this information is being verified.
"We are looking into that aspect. We will wait for the prosecutor in charge to give us the details that, in turn, we could communicate to you," Pesqueira responded.
Sources from the outlet confirmed that the woman's ex-partner is under official investigation. The authorities, however, have not publicly offered specifics about possible involvement in the disappearance.
