According to diariolibre.com, Dominican authorities extradited to Puerto Rico citizen Ramón Martínez, also known as Ramón Arturo Ortega Concepción and by the alias "El Negro Amante", aged 44, sought by United States justice for his alleged involvement in first-degree murder, attempted homicide, illegal carrying of firearms and other related offences.
The handover took place at Las Américas International Airport (AILA-JFPG), where Martínez was placed in custody of United States officials, who transported him on a commercial flight bound for Puerto Rico.
The operation was carried out by the General Prosecutor's Office (PGR) and the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), with support from the United States Marshals Service, once the corresponding legal procedures were completed and in compliance with the decree authorising the handover.
According to information provided by the DNCD, the charges against Martínez in Puerto Rico include first-degree murder, attempted homicide, illegal carrying and possession of firearms, as well as firing and pointing a weapon.
The defendant had been detained in August during an operation in the Villa del Café Segunda sector, in Santo Domingo Oeste. In that operation, authorities seized a vehicle, an HS-2000 pistol with magazine and several rounds of ammunition, in addition to documentation incorporated into the judicial proceedings.
