The National Police carried out two separate arrests linked to electronic fraud, according to eldia.com.do. Both operations were conducted by the Cyber Police Area Directorate in compliance with judicial orders.

In the first case, officers detained Miguel Arturo Ramírez Vicente in Higüey, La Altagracia province, under arrest order no. 2025-AJ0081707-002, issued by judicial authorities in Santiago de los Caballeros. Ramírez Vicente is being investigated for an alleged fraud of RD$200,000 committed through identity theft on Facebook and WhatsApp.

According to investigations, someone accessed a Facebook account and, impersonating a relative of the victim, requested a money transfer to a bank account linked to the detainee. The complaint was filed with the Santiago Prosecutor's Office in March 2025.

In the second case, authorities arrested Moisés Rafael Céspedes Ballana at the holiday resort at kilometre 12 of Haina, San Cristóbal province, pursuant to judicial order no. 973-EMES-09669, issued in Santo Domingo Este. According to the complaint, the victim handed over the money under the promise of obtaining profits from an investment that ultimately failed to produce the promised returns.

Both cases are being investigated under Law no. 53-07 on High-Technology Crimes and Offences. The two detainees will be placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry for corresponding legal proceedings.
