Two arrested for armed assault in residence and business in Santiago
According to reports from listindiario.com, Dominican authorities arrested two men allegedly involved in an aggravated robbery and armed assault that took place on 22 September in Villa González, Santiago de los Caballeros.
The detainees were identified as Luis Miguel Sánchez Lebrón, alias "Lebrón", and Justo Ramón Durán Jiménez, known as "Tatuaje" or "El Fuerte". The latter was captured during a raid carried out in the municipality of Navarrete.
During operations carried out pursuant to several judicial arrest and search warrants, police seized a modified 9-millimetre pistol with a magazine and two rounds, a safe, a DVR, a Toyota RAV4 sports utility vehicle and a motorcycle, among other evidence.
According to investigations, those involved entered a residence and a commercial establishment, where they beat and tied up one of the victims. The assailants threatened the victim with death to force them to open the safe, from which they removed cash, dollars, gold jewellery and documents.
The investigation also identifies Luciano Mendoza Santos, alias "El Son" or "Papón", as an alleged principal co-author of the assault; authorities are actively searching for him. Meanwhile, Braulio Vélez remains under investigation for his alleged involvement in the custody and acquisition of goods stolen in the robbery.
