Young man surrenders over assault and homicide at home of Julián Oro Duro in Dominican Republic

Four people implicated in crime against the merengue artist's wife
A 23-year-old young man surrendered to the authorities in the early hours of Wednesday in connection with the assault and homicide that occurred at the residence of artist Gilberto Julián Sarante, known as Julián Oro Duro, according to reporting by primerahora.com.
The detained man, identified as Kevin Dariel Germán Troncoso, declared that four people participated in the incident: himself, a military officer known as Peña, a supposed uncle of the latter, and a fourth man who entered the house directly.
According to his account, Peña was the one who initially contacted him to offer him work at the request of that "uncle of his", described as military. He then brought him before said uncle, of whom Peña had told him was the "artist's driver". Germán Troncoso described this man as "small, strong, fair-skinned, bald", between 30 and 40 years old.
At that meeting, the supposed driver gave him 500 pesos and asked him to obtain a helmet and a jacket to transport a fourth person to a location and wait for him. For this service, Germán Troncoso would receive 20,000 pesos.
He picked up that fourth person—who was wearing a balaclava—at the circumferential road of La Victoria. Both headed to the merengue artist's house, where the unknown man called out by name to Zeneida Socorro Castillo, the artist's wife, who recognised him and opened the door.
Once inside the residence, the woman prepared them juice. Upon returning from the kitchen with the glasses, she was attacked by the fourth man with a vase, receiving a blow to the head. After assaulting her, the attacker killed her and took the house keys from her.
After the crime, the fourth man communicated with the supposed uncle, who told him the location of a suitcase with money. He recovered the money and, following new telephone instructions, waited for the artist to seize his chain.
When Julián Oro Duro arrived, the attacker struck him on the head with a wooden figurine, tied him up and asked him about the chain. The artist indicated that it was in a bundle; the man took it along with his mobile phone and abandoned the residence together with Germán Troncoso.
