A man with an active arrest warrant died on Friday morning following an exchange of gunfire with agents of the Central Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DICRIM), listindiario.com reported.
At 6:00 in the morning, DICRIM agents were conducting intelligence work to locate Jenny Santos Franco Jiménez, aged 35, known in the Los Frailes neighbourhood as "The Cannibal". According to the National Police, upon perceiving the presence of the agents, Santos Franco Jiménez opened fire with a Glock .45 pistol, and the uniformed officers returned fire.
Following the confrontation, the man was injured in various parts of his body. The agents transported him to Dr. Darío Contreras Trauma Hospital, where he died at 6:32 in the morning.
The National Police stated that Santos Franco Jiménez was wanted under arrest warrant number 2026-AJ0015784 for alleged involvement in several criminal acts, including a homicide that occurred on 22 February 2026. His police records included a history of criminal association, homicide, and robbery.
Evidence gathered at the scene is part of an ongoing investigation aimed at establishing the exact circumstances of the confrontation.
