The National Police intensified its operations against crime in different sectors of Greater Santo Domingo, according to acento.com.do. Officers from the Central Criminal Investigation Directorate (DICRIM) seized firearms, drugs, slot machines and other objects linked to illicit activities.
The interventions were carried out by the Department of Criminal Investigations and Crimes Against Property in Villa Juana, Villa Consuelo, Villas Agrícolas, Capotillo, Los Ríos, Los Peralejos and kilometre 13 of the Duarte Highway.
During the operations, Dany Carlos Méndez, alias "Aboyao", and Antonio Yina, alias "Venezolano", were arrested. Both were placed under the control of the Public Ministry for corresponding legal proceedings.
Among the seized evidence are a .38 calibre revolver with the serial number removed and five cartridges, 13 slot machines, six electronic scales and three communication radios. Portions of substances presumed to be marijuana, crack and molly were also seized, along with bladed weapons, vehicle parts and accessories of questionable origin and eight doors from intervened infrastructure.
The firearm seized was sent to the Scientific Police for corresponding ballistic analysis and verification.
The actions also form part of investigations into an incident that occurred in Ensanche Capotillo, where Sonali Daniel García, 26, and Leandro Álvarez Luis, 21, were wounded by gunfire. According to preliminary investigations, several individuals are identified as suspected perpetrators of the incident, and the National Police maintain an active search.
The detainees and evidence were placed under the control of the Public Ministry as investigations continue to establish responsibility and deepen actions against structures linked to criminal acts in Greater Santo Domingo.
