Dominican police seize weapons, drugs and detain seven in Santo Domingo

Operations in Ensanche Luperón and Capotillo yielded 912 ecstasy tablets, cocaine and five weapons confiscated. Seven people were detained.

Seven arrested and five firearms confiscated in operations in the National District

The Dominican National Police confiscated drugs and firearms during interventions carried out in the Ensanche Luperón and Capotillo sectors of the National District, according to information reported by prensa-latina.cu.

Among the seized substances were 912 tablets allegedly of ecstasy, approximately two kilograms of a white powder identified as cocaine, in addition to marijuana and crack. The operations also made it possible to recover two motorcycles and seize four slot machines.

Seven people were detained during the interventions, from whom various quantities of controlled substances were confiscated. The arrestees and the evidence will be referred to the National Directorate of Drug Control for the corresponding legal proceedings, the institution specified.

In total five firearms were confiscated. Among those detained is Ariel García, from whom a Glock pistol calibre 40 with three bullets was seized, and Miguel Ángel Pérez Reyes, found with a Taurus PT-92 and one bullet. Likewise, Casandra Ferreras was arrested with a FEG Carandai nine-millimetre pistol, reported as stolen days earlier. The police noted that some firearm carriers were unable to present documents proving their legal possession.

As part of investigative efforts, the authorities also executed three judicial arrest warrants against three other citizens.

The institution indicated that the operations are part of preventive patrol work, intelligence and monitoring directed at points of sale of controlled substances and spaces linked to criminal activities.
