Dominican police have arrested four suspects linked to the murder of Zeneida Socorro Castillo, wife of merengue singer Julián Oro Duro, who was attacked at her home on 21 September.

Fr.euronews.com reports that the National Police of the Dominican Republic has detained four suspects involved in an attack at the home of merengue singer Gilberto Julián Sarante, alias Julián Oro Duro, which occurred on 21 September in the Brisa Oriental VI neighbourhood in East Santo Domingo. His wife, Zeneida Socorro Castillo, 60 years old, was killed during the assault; the singer himself sustained serious head injuries and is continuing his recovery.
The four arrested individuals have been formally identified: Phillips Michael Tejeda Vásquez, Juan Carlos Hernández García, known as Peña, Kevin Dariel Germán Troncoso, known as Yandel, 23 years old, and Lawrence Mark Liranzo Marcos, alias Chiquito, 18 years old. The latter was apprehended following an active search conducted by the authorities.
According to investigators, the four men maintained professional or trust-based links with the artist's circle. Tejeda Vásquez worked as an air-conditioning technician at several properties owned by Julián Oro Duro; the investigation indicates that he coordinated contacts between the other suspects. Liranzo Marcos knew the family and worked on a construction site for a villa belonging to the singer in Guerra.
According to the investigation, Castillo was reportedly held and tortured for several hours before being killed, with the attackers having waited for the artist to return to his home to assault him.
Police and the public prosecutor's office are continuing to gather evidence. The case has provoked considerable emotion in the Dominican Republic.
