Dominican Republic extradites two citizens to Florida for cocaine trafficking

Two Dominicans handed over to US on drug trafficking charges
The Dominican Republic has extradited two Dominican citizens sought by US justice authorities on charges linked to drug trafficking, according to information released by the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (PGR), according to acento.com.do.
The extradited individuals are Rafael Hidalgo García, alias "Pequeño" or "Viejo", and Domingo Rivera Trinidad, alias "Tyson" or "El Sobrino". Both were transferred to José Francisco Peña Gómez Las Américas International Airport, where they were handed over to US officials.
A court in the Southern District of Florida accuses them of criminal conspiracy to distribute five kilogrammes of a mixture containing a detectable quantity of cocaine, with knowledge that it would be illegally introduced into the United States.
The handover took place in compliance with decrees 610-26 and 612-26, issued by the Executive Power, as well as resolutions from the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice.
The operation involved agents from the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), the PGR and the United States Marshals Service. The two men were taken into custody and brought to the airport terminal, where they boarded a flight bound for Miami, Florida, where they are to appear before judicial authorities on the charges brought against them.
The accusations correspond to ongoing judicial proceedings in the United States and do not, in themselves, constitute a declaration of guilt.
