Six dead in police operations in Dominican Republic in four days
Six people died over four days during police operations in several Dominican provinces. Since 17 August, the total number of deaths in interventions has risen to 11.

Six people lost their lives over four days during interventions by the National Police in the provinces of Azua, Dajabón and Santo Domingo Este, according to prensa-latina.cu citing Diario Libre. Since the police chief was replaced on 17 August, the total number of deaths in operations has risen to 11.
Three of the deaths are linked to the investigation of an attempted robbery at a remittance sending company in Sabana Yegua, Azua, which occurred on Friday. The three men were wanted for alleged involvement in that incident and were located by agents from the Central Directorate of Investigation and the Preventive Police.
During these operations, the authorities seized a rifle, three pistols, bulletproof vests, items for concealing the face, mobile phones, ammunition and two vehicles, among other objects.
In Dajabón, a province bordering Haiti, Dargenis de Jesús died, who had been pursued by the authorities for several months.
The two remaining deaths occurred during separate interventions, the details of which were not specified in the report released by the police institution.
