Seven men linked to homicides and drug trafficking died after confronting police officers in various parts of the country, according to the National Police.

Seven people died on Friday after confronting National Police officers who were attempting to execute arrest warrants against them in various parts of the country, according to diarioeco.com.do. Institutional spokesperson Diego Pesqueira stated that the deceased had links to drug trafficking, homicides and criminal association, and that all had previous complaints and active detention orders.
The confrontations took place in Los Alcarrizos, Santo Domingo Este, Santo Domingo Oeste, Cabral—Barahona province—and Gaspar Hernández. In Los Alcarrizos, Gabriel Luis Montero, known as "Campeón"; Domingo Santiago Valdez, alias "La Fama"; and José Daniel De La Cruz Valdez, alias "Hernán" and/or "Nay", lost their lives.
In Santo Domingo Este, Genny Santos Franco Jiménez died, alias "El Come Hombre de Los Frailes", whom authorities were actively searching for. In Las Caobas, a sector of Santo Domingo Oeste, Haitian citizen José Manuel San Luis, known as "Negrón", died. In the interior of the country, Carlos Julio Feliz Sena perished in Cabral, and Ricardo Polanco García, alias "Richard Gatillo", in Gaspar Hernández.
Pesqueira indicated that the corporation is keeping the details of each case under review in order to issue the corresponding reports. He also reiterated that police forces act in accordance with protocols for proportional use of force when responding to armed aggression.
