A contractor technician was arrested after illegally connecting a residence to the electrical grid in Arroyo Hondo, allegedly in exchange for money.
Technician arrested for electrical fraud in residential sector of the National District
A technician employed by a contracting company was detained on Saturday after being caught carrying out an irregular electrical connection at a residence in the Los Cerros de Arroyo Hondo sector in the National District, according to elnacional.com.do citing Edesur Dominicana.
According to verifications carried out at the location, the technician had allegedly tampered with a faulty meter and, instead of replacing it in accordance with established procedures, connected the residence directly to the electrical grid, allegedly in exchange for payment.
Personnel from the Anti-Fraud Operations Department, together with a brigade from Edesur's Loss Prevention Directorate, travelled to the location and drew up the corresponding inspection report, recording the conditions found. The case was referred to the competent authorities to determine the corresponding responsibilities.
Edesur reiterated that it does not tolerate irregular conduct by its personnel or by technicians and contractors of contracting companies that provide services to the institution, and stated that it maintains supervisory and control mechanisms to prevent this type of practice.
The company urged citizens to report any improper charges, irregular connections or other conduct contrary to established procedures.
