Salsa singer cancels performance following death of family member in Santo Domingo Este
According to elnacional.com.do, salsa singer Yiyo Sarante rescheduled his artistic performance scheduled for 26 September, following the murder of his sister-in-law Zeneida Socorro Castillo, known as "Zeni", and the attack on his brother, merengue musician Julián Oro Duro.
Nightclub Euphoria announced the decision through its social media, noting that the event has been postponed owing to the family situation the artist is experiencing. The establishment indicated that a new date would be announced in due course.
Castillo was found dead in the early hours of Monday at the residence she shared with Julián Oro Duro, in the Brisa Oriental VI sector of Santo Domingo Este. The merengue musician was injured in the same incident.
The preliminary report from the National Police indicates that the victim had bruising and a knife wound. Agents are analysing evidence collected from the scene, reviewing security camera footage from the sector and interviewing several people. The investigation remains open to clarify the crime.
