Shots fired at driver waiting for entry at Chongón gate
A man lost his life on the morning of Monday 5 October in Chongón, a parish of Guayaquil, after being struck by bullets whilst his vehicle waited to enter a private residential development, according to extra.ec.
The attack occurred around 08:30. The victim was driving a red car that was waiting for the access barrier to be activated to the residential complex when he was attacked. It remains unknown whether the attackers were travelling by motorcycle or another vehicle.
The driver managed to cross the barrier and enter the interior of the residential development, but advanced only about eight metres before stopping. It was at that point where his death was confirmed.
Police units travelled to the scene to gather evidence and information about the incident. A mobile Legal Medicine unit also attended in order to remove the body of the victim.
Outside the residential complex, a short distance from the gate, officers found several scattered ballistic indicators, which they proceeded to count and collect as part of the investigative procedures.
Two people—a man and a woman—were seen beside the red vehicle inside the residential development. According to what was observed at the scene, both knew the victim, given that they approached the vehicle with evident signs of distress.
