Three robberies on Metrovía buses: citizens detain suspect in Guasmo Sur
Steven G. was detained by citizens on Monday 28 September after allegedly attempting another robbery on Guayaquil's Metrovía, following three armed robberies the previous day.

A man identified as Steven G. was detained by citizens on the morning of Monday 28 September in the area of the Unión de Bananeros cooperative in Guasmo Sur, south of Guayaquil, according to reports from primicias.ec.
The incident occurred when the suspect allegedly returned to the same sector where, on Sunday 27 September, he had allegedly committed at least three armed robberies on vehicles belonging to Troncal 2 of the Metrovía transport system.
According to Metrovía, security reports and a review of surveillance camera footage made it possible to link Steven G. to the three criminal incidents recorded during Sunday, all at different times and on the same corridor of the line.
In the last incident on Sunday, around 17:17, the suspect allegedly struck a bus driver with the butt of the firearm he was carrying.
The following day, Steven G. allegedly attempted to commit another robbery on another vehicle in the system. It was then that citizens managed to intercept and detain him at the location. Subsequently, Metrovía personnel and Segura EP coordinated with the National Police to transfer him to the competent authorities.
Troncal 2, the scene of the incidents, connects Terminal 25 de Julio in the south of the city with Terminal Río Daule in the north, passing through areas such as Mall del Sur, Capwell stadium, the historic centre, Avenida de las Américas and the airport.
Metrovía reported that it maintains active security protocols and monitoring through agents and surveillance camera systems to coordinate response to criminal incidents on its vehicles.
