On 25 June, criminal proceedings were initiated over an incident in which fraudsters called a man, posed as employees of the Pension Service and police, and convinced the victim to withdraw money from an ATM. The damage caused amounts to 20,000 euros.

Fraudsters called a man on 25 June and posed as employees of the Pension Service and police. As a result of their persuasion, the victim went to an ATM with his bank card and withdrew money. The initial damage caused is 20,000 euros, reported the Police and Border Guard Board via MinuAeg.
On the same evening, proceedings were also initiated over another telephone fraud case. In this case, the perpetrators contacted a woman who had a landline telephone contract. The callers claimed to be police officers and employees of an Estonian bank. During the conversation, they managed to obtain Smart-ID PIN codes from the victim. Subsequently, a transfer was made from the woman's bank account to a foreign bank account. The damage in this case is 3,101 euros.
Police warn that in the case of a suspicious call, it should be ended immediately. Tips regarding fraud are requested, including screenshots and call recordings, at [email protected].
