On 17 June, police officers detained a 21-year-old man with Polish citizenship in Jõhvi Municipality. He is suspected of operating as a money courier in Ida-Viru County, in the towns of Sillamäe and Narva.
The incident is included in the Police and Border Guard Board's weekend criminal statistics. Over the past weekend, a total of 132 reports and notifications of crimes were registered in the authority. Of these, 79 were property crimes.
Operating as a money courier is often associated with organised crime, in which individuals transport large sums of cash between different locations. Such activity may be connected to drug trafficking, tax fraud, or other illegal transactions.
