For years, officials have used positioning data and recording devices to detect traffic violations, but presenting them as evidence requires an expert examination to be carried out by EKEI. The PPA does not keep records of how often such analyses are ordered.
In the case of Isa Khalilovi, the investigation relied on satellite data in addition to the vehicle's recording device. Three people died in the accident when a man drove into their car. Leana Loide clarified details of the case proceedings to journalists at Postimees.
