The National Police drew up 315 drug-related reports during the Málaga Fair, which closed last Saturday, and identified an increase in new-generation narcotics, according to information released by the force in a statement on Sunday. Drugs constitute the primary cause of the 391 total reports registered during the festive period. To this count are added a further 38 reports for possession of weapons.
Arrests for multiple offences
A total of 83 people were arrested by the National Police over the course of the Fair. The breakdown by type of offence is as follows:
- 1 for robbery with violence
- 9 for offences against public health
- 7 for assault
- 9 for resistance and disobedience to authority agents
- 10 for assault on authority agents
- 8 for offences against sexual freedom
- 8 for unlawful possession of weapons
- 7 for domestic abuse and gender-based violence
- 14 wanted by the courts
- The remainder for other criminal categories
Interventions and operations
Officers focused part of their work on the identification of people and the search of items they were carrying, with the aim of locating carriers of bladed weapons and reducing the risk of serious injuries in fights or incidents.
The officers intervened in 126 brawls and carried out humanitarian assistance operations on 136 occasions. More than 2,000 officers were deployed to guarantee public safety during the fair period, carrying out nearly 6,700 identifications and checking 110 vehicles.
The operation also included 86 actions regarding private security, with inspections and procedures in fair marquees. In addition, 144 resold tickets were seized in the vicinity of the La Malagueta bullring.
