According to d-cerca.com, two individuals sexually assaulted a woman in the municipality of El Ejido. After being alerted, Local Police arrested one of the two attackers; authorities are working to locate the second participant in the coming hours. The victim identified her attacker once the arrest was made.
The mayor of El Ejido, Julia Ibáñez, confirmed the incident and linked it to the situation currently being experienced in Ceuta. Ibáñez attributed the lack of security in the municipality to the entry of people through the borders with Morocco, in the context of the migratory influx affecting the Spanish city in North Africa.
The mayor called on the "Central Government, which is responsible for public security, to take the necessary measures to prevent this type of incident".
Ibáñez confirmed that the arrested individual is from Ceuta, is a migrant and, according to her own words, could have arrived during the recent wave of irregular entries affecting that city.
This is the second incident of similar characteristics recorded in El Ejido during the same week.
