Madrid's Court of Justice closes the complaint filed by the Judicial Power against Judge Peinado over his statements about Begoña Gómez's security personnel.

Complaint against Judge Peinado archived in Madrid

The Madrid Court of Justice has archived the complaint against Judge Juan Carlos Peinado that the General Council of the Judicial Power had submitted to him, according to Google News ES — Crime (es). The complaint arose from the magistrate's statements in which he claimed that Begoña Gómez's security personnel, the wife of Government President Pedro Sánchez, could have helped her to escape.

The Judicial Power transferred the file to the Madrid court after considering that there were sufficient indications to examine the judge's conduct. However, the judicial body has decided to archive the case without adopting disciplinary measures against Peinado.

The judge's statements were made in the course of the investigation into the case investigating Begoña Gómez for alleged crimes of corruption in business dealings and abuse of influence. Peinado, head of Investigation Court number 41 in Madrid, maintained that the personal security apparatus of the investigated individual could have facilitated a possible escape.

The decision to archive the complaint closes, for the time being, the disciplinary proceedings opened against the magistrate in relation to those statements.
