Inside Son Llàtzer, he repeated the display of the device while shouting threatening remarks about harming himself. He bore bruises and bleeding on his upper limbs. The medical team, gripped by panic, alerted the emergency service 112 and sought shelter.
Various police units travelled to the hospital, but the suspect had already escaped in an automobile at excessive speed. Officers combed the area but failed to locate him and travelled to Son Banya, where they spotted a car entering the settlement at high speed. When ordered to stop, the driver ignored the instruction, triggering a chase.
Shortly afterwards, officers managed to intercept the car. They were forced to draw their official pistols given the risk that the fugitive might use his. The weapon, stained with blood, was found in the rear of the vehicle. It was also established that Fernández Cortés did not possess a driving licence.
The arrested man has been placed at the disposal of judicial authorities as the suspected perpetrator of public order disturbance, illegal possession of weapons and traffic code violations. The unit specialising in robberies has taken the lead in the investigation to clarify the origin of the wounds on his arms. The weapon has been sent to forensic technicians for detailed examination.
