Gender-based crime in Sant Martí: 34-year-old victim dies after being stabbed by her partner

A 34-year-old woman of South American origin died on Tuesday 28 July at her home on Calle Andrade in Barcelona, in the Sant Martí district, after being stabbed by her partner, according to ABC. The attack occurred a few minutes before eight in the evening, in the presence of the couple's minor children.

Several units from the Medical Emergency System (SEM) attended the scene along with patrols from the Mossos d'Esquadra and the Guardia Urbana. Emergency services managed to locate the victim still alive, but she died despite efforts to stabilise her.

After the attack, the attacker fled the area in a Ford vehicle. Shortly afterwards he set the car on fire and continued his escape on foot. The Mossos d'Esquadra are searching for him in order to detain him for the alleged gender-based crime.

If the motive is confirmed, it would be the third crime of this type in Catalonia in 2026 and the 32nd murder across Spain.
